Description: | Job Summary:
This position is the primary backup to the Payroll Accountant and will administer and process payroll in the Payroll Accountant’s absence. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the timely and accurate delivery of payroll and related client service, including recordkeeping and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports Payroll Accountant to Process payroll and maintain payroll information as required in the following functions:
• Data entry for time and attendance and personnel transactions such as new hires, terminations, leave of absence, benefits deductions, garnishments, flexible spending, 401(k),etc.
• Assist in the calculation of special payments including disability, bonus, retro, and pro-rated salaries.
• Audit payroll reports and entries prior to submission to 3rd party payroll service.
• Respond to inquiries from States regarding withholding and unemployment taxes.
• Assists in maintenance and preparation of payroll records and reports.
• Maintain 401K file for account calculations and submissions.
• Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc reports, queries, and conducts appropriate audits to ensure data integrity.
• Provide timely and accurate payroll related assistance to employees as requested.
Qualification requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience required.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll administration and processing
• Knowledge of payroll practices and principles
• Some knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good analytical skills and the ability to gather and interpret data.
• Excellent spreadsheet skills required.
• Highly motivated and proactive approach to the job.
• Significant experience with computerized systems.
