This position prepares and/or coordinates preparation of full estimates on large and complex work and supervises the estimating function, including the Estimator position (junior level) within the Branch. They will interact with owners, A/E's and contractors to resolve technical matters. They will be involved with planning cost factors for restoration projects; analyzing construction documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects by performing the following duties: TASKS: · Prepare and/or coordinate full estimates on large and complex projects. · Supervise the estimating function within the Branch, including the Estimator position (junior level). · Research products by utilizing product data, MSDS, and manufactures representatives for limitation and coverage. · Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities. · Prepares construction estimate costs by studying plans and specifications. · Write detailed subcontractor and vender RFP's and levels bids on spreadsheets. · Prepare client proposal and follow up to close the sale. · Evaluates quotes from vendors and manufactures to determine the best possible solution for a project. · Works with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foreman to develop a plan on each project that is ultimately won. · Assembles site logistic plans and associated general conditions. · Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. · Completes bid forms for both lump sum and unit cost jobs. · Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and industry trends. · Maintains production Database. · Maintains quality standards by following organizational standards. · Understands production for specific tasks. · Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors and property managers. · Attend pre-bids and job walk troughs. · Manages RFI's during bid process. · Manages and authors bid clarifications. · Prepares preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans, specifications, and production. · Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and formal process to support cost estimating to ensure that historical data is utilized. · Analyzes completed project to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancy. · Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs. SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: · High school diploma or equivalent. · Bachelor degree in Construction Management or related field is a plus. · 3+ years experience working with a large commercial general contractor or restoration contractor that does similar projects to that of Brisk. · Ability to read and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations i.e. NYCDOB, OSHA, NYC Construction Codes. · Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and vendors. · Thorough knowledge of the construction industry in beneficial. · Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. · Demonstrated ability in managing employees · Understand package estimating systems, and demonstrated ability to operate a digitizer. |
